Purpose: Clear Horizons Academy serves
children ages 3-7 yrs old with Autism Spectrum Disorders and those with
different learning styles similar to ASD. We plan to add a year in age every
school year, such as adding 8 year olds 2006-07. We are willing to work with
parents if their child would benefit from our school but is a year above or
below this age range if we feel it is an appropriate placement.

Purpose: GIANT Steps is a treatment
program for children ages three years through five years who have been
diagnosed with Autism. The treatment methods used include discrete trial,
TEACH, and Greenspan's Floor-time, along with pre-school activities. There is a
maximum enrollment of twenty-four children. This allows the program to
accommodate twelve children in each treatment-room with a one-to-two or a
one-to-three ratio of adult to children. One Autism Specialist, two Autism
Assistants and three Autism Aides work in each treatment-room. There is, also,
a case manager, a full-time social worker, and a psychiatrist available.
Children from all three school districts in Utah county participate in the
program. Through the school districts, children who qualify, are provided with
speech therapy, occupational therapy, and/or adaptive physical education.
Parent education and training is provided on a monthly basis as is a parent
support group.

Purpose: Salt Lake CAP Head Start is a
comprehensive inclusive early childhood development program serving low-income
and special needs children from age three to five and their families. Head
Start is a Federal program that is operated by local non-profit organizations
such as Salt Lake Community Action Program (CAP). Children who attend Head
Start participate in a variety of educational activities including literacy,
language, science, social-emotional, and much more. They also receive medical
and dental services, have healthy meals and snacks, and enjoy playing safely
indoors and outdoors.

Purpose: Kids
World Preschool educates children with and without disabilities in a inclusive
environment. This unique preschool takes the traditional classroom and
customizes learning for every child.
The staff works with children of all abilities such as: Autism, PDD,
Speech Delays, Down Syndrome, Aspergers, Behavior challenges, Cerebral Palsy,
and Developmental Delays. This specialized preschool also has many families
enrolling their typical children in the classroom as peer models.

Purpose: The Northern Utah Autism Program is a
pre-school program for children diagnosed with Autism or Pervasive
Developmental Disorder (PDD) offered through Weber Mental Health. The program
is divided into two classrooms of twelve children each with one teacher, two
aides, and two part-time assistants. Programming focuses on attending behaviors
and compliance, language and cognition, self-help and social skills, and parent
contact.
