Purpose:
The Utah Department of Natural Resources (DNR) encourages people with
disabilities to take advantage of our natural resources. UDNR is in charge of
parks, campgrounds, trail systems, fishing piers, and other programs to enable
access to our natural resources throughout the state. Non-DWR recreation areas
include Utah's 52 State Parks, National
Parks, National Monuments, National Recreation Areas, BLM and US Forest
Service areas. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service refuges host
accessible facilities, which may include boat launches, restrooms, visitor
centers, fish cleaning stations, picnic and camping sites, and nature walk
areas. Multiple county park facilities in Utah may be used by wildlife
enthusiasts with disabilities. Many private facilities also provide accessible
features.

Purpose:
The Kostopulos Dream Foundation provides recreation and leisure opportunities
year-round through two main programs, Camp Kostopulos Summer Camp and
Community-based Leisure Education program. Camp Kostopulos offers a five-day,
four-night residential or travel trip camp experience for people of all
abilities from age 6 to 99. The community-based program runs September through
May, and applies to kids, teens, and adults. Participants are welcome to enjoy
activities such as bowling, swimming, dining out, etc.

Kindred
Spirits Integrated Art is a community based non-profit inclusive fine arts
organization for children and their parents.
Children without disabilities work side by side those with special needs
and each is accompanied by an adult apprentice. Together everyone learns about
art and each other. Sessions are followed by public receptions and/or
performances where visitors meet the artists and experience their exceptional
work.

The National Ability Center is a non-profit organization that is committed to

Purpose: Special Olympics is an international nonprofit organization dedicated
to empowering individuals with intellectual disabilities to become physically
fit, productive, and respected members of society through sports training and
competition. Special Olympics offer children and adults with intellectual
disabilities year-round training and competition in 26 summer and winter
sports. There is no charge to participate in Special Olympics.

Purpose:
SPLORE is a Utah based non-profit organization that provides outdoor recreation
and education to people with disabilities and special needs. The adventures
include: white water rafting, canoeing, rock climbing, cross-country skiing,
and other specialized programs. There is the SPLORE Scholarship Program which
can reduce the costs by 50% for participants.

Purpose: The Teen Workshops serve teens with and
without disabilities. Classes are
taught by professional artists, in a gallery setting, through a series of
workshops. Thirteen teens are accepted
in each workshop, keeping sessions small, thus insuring all participants the
opportunity to learn about new art forms and exposing them to the diverse
backgrounds and abilities of a variety of peers with and without disabilities.

Purpose: The U-FIT Special Physical Activity Program provides fun,
noncompetitive physical activities that will help children and youth with
disabilities to reach individual goals. Skilled volunteers help the
participants build friendships, increase self-esteem, improve motor skills and
levels o physical fitness, and have fun in a nurturing environment The goals
and needs of each participant's family is key to the success of the U-FIT
Program. The program is family-centered and family-friendly. Hours: F- 6:15-8:00 p.m.

Purpose: Programs offered include; ski lessons, snow shoe tours and sledge
hockey throughout the winter, and numerous outdoor recreational activities such
as hiking on barrier free trails, fishing, biking, tram rides and environmental
awareness programs in the summer. The program works hand in hand with many
schools, therapeutic recreation centers, children's hospitals and
rehabilitation centers throughout the state, providing much needed ski lessons
and other outdoor recreational experiences.
