Dear Stakeholders,

Next week, an external contractor for the Utah State Board of Education (USBE) will be leading several stakeholder meetings around the state. The purpose of the meetings is to provide feedback into personnel development for education personnel providing services to students with disabilities, including feedback which will be used for the next State Personnel Development Grant (SPDG) application.

The SPDG has historically been used to provide funding for the Utah Multi-tiered System of Supports (UMTSS), and while there is no intent to discontinue that valuable work, these meetings provide a widespread opportunity for Utah stakeholders to address additional needs.

To see current UMTSS work, please visit http://www.schools.utah.gov/umtss/.
To review current SPDG requirements and opportunities, please visit http://www2.ed.gov/programs/osepsig/index.html

Parents, educators, and stakeholders are invited to attend the focus group to provide input on personnel development needs for educators serving students with disabilities. Please plan to attend meeting held in your region. Meetings will be held December 5-8, 2016 across the state. Please see the dates and locations below for the meeting nearest you.

Thank you,
Glenna Gallo
State Director of Special Education
Utah State Board of Education
