Training Webinars, Videos, and Materials
The Utah Parent Center is very excited to announce that you can access various webinars, trainings, presentations, and information related to different events that we host. Please make sure that you have speakers connected to your computer.
In order for you to view any of these webinars, Wimba (the web conferencing software used by the Utah Parent Center) will need to take you through a couple of simple steps. The steps will ensure that your computer is ready to view the webinar.

The Utah Parent Center is pleased to present this information and training modules which are part of a four-part series on the roles and responsibilities of parents as partners with team members and the development of the individualized education program, or IEP, for their student with a disability. One overview module about the IEP process is also available in Spanish. It will be helpful for you to download a copy of the Utah Parent Center handbook for parents entitled “Parents as Partners in the IEP Process”. It can be downloaded by clicking here. After you have viewed the training modules, please contact the Parent Consultants at the Utah Parent Center for additional assistance. You can also obtain a free DVD with the IEP training modules and a free copy of the parent handbook by calling the Utah Parent Center at (801) 272-1051 or (800) 468-1160.

In this webinar, Carol presents on the different supports and services people with disabilities can access in order to be successfully employed. There are many new programs that help people keep their benefits while employed. Parents and students should learn about the various options and make connections while students are still in school.

May 5, 2009 – What Students with Disabilities Need to Know about Going to College
Presented by: Steven Lewis, Salt Lake Community College
Running Time: 54 minutes
In this webinar, Steven discusses what college or university programs are appropriate, the availability of support services, campus accessibility, what accommodations are available, whether to take a part-time or full class load, and documentation required to obtain services. Preparation for postsecondary education also includes the skills necessary for the student to become a self-advocate and deal with both the academic and social challenges presented by college.
